Vermont, New England, Northern New York… Wherever you decide to have your session, there are infinite possibilities for epic backdrops to enhance your photos!
As always, you have the freedom to pick wherever you’d like your shoot to be. And my vote is always to do it somewhere special to you. Whether it’s your favorite mountain summit or your own back yard. But if you’re stumped or are looking for something new, I’m your gal.
I have an arsenal of spots that will make your photos unique, epic, and give you variety within your session. A lot of these locations are within a ten minute walk or hike of the car.
Most of the photos featured in this post are accessible by an easy to moderate effort and short hikes. Obviously efforts will vary with everyone, but I promise, you don’t have to lug all your stuff for 2,000 feet of elevation gain for hours to get grand views and scenery (but we can, I’m down).
If you want the wild, rugged, stunning backdrop without the effort, just ask and I can come up with plenty of options!

Lets say your vision does require a more strenuous effort. Paddling out onto a lake, hiking a high peak……… I’m here for it. Generally those kind of shoots won’t cost you extra, however if we’re going on a 6 hour hike, “travel” fees may apply.
It’s also worth mentioning I ski (alpine & Nordic), mountain bike, paddle, and snowshoe regularly. As well as do all sorts of other outdoor activities. So if you want to incorporate any of those things into your shoot or use them as transportation to a location then I will absolutely be able to keep up with my camera in tow!
I’m a little less well versed in scouting indoor locations because my specialty truly is outdoor adventure shoots. However, inside sessions are so beautiful too and I do have some great indoor space suggestions if that’s the route you want!
For these, your own home is always a great idea, because it’s such a comfort zone and of course it offers the most privacy! But there are some gorgeous public locations that can be used too!
